Dean Ferris was taken to the hospital after a crash during the opening round of the 2018 Australian Supercross Championship.

The 28-year-old had a heavy fall at the Jimboomba Stadium during a heat race and was then transported to hospital so that the CDR Yamaha Monster Energy Team rider could undergo head and chest scans, the team confirmed.

There have been no further updates. Earlier this year Ferris announced his intention to quit domestic championship racing in his homeland and head to the USA full-time for 2019.
