We reported earlier today that it looked like Chad Reed would miss Red Bull Straight Rhythm due to injury.

A replacement for the Open Class had been drafted with SR75 World Team Suzuki’s Cyrille Coulon stepping in at the last minute.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t a lot of information coming out other than Ellie Reed’s Instagram post, which we reported on and Coulon coming in as a replacement.

We had heard from the pits a few hours ago that he had broken his ankle but when we asked somebody close to Reed’s camp they didn’t want to confirm anything.

Considering the rumours flying around on the web that it could be spinal related we held off further reporting until we had official word. That has come now from the man himself with a social media post, and thankfully it confirms that it is an ankle injury.

While that’s not great of course, it’s much better than what was being speculated.

Reed said: Sometimes things don’t make sense but you just roll with the punches and take the positives from it. The Redbull Straight rhythm on a 2stroke had me so damn excited. I’m so disappointed I’m unable to participate today. So many people played such a massive role in pulling this project off for me. Can’t thank @pcoater_shane enough without him zero chance this was possible @dantruman101 thanks for being there and having my back at whatever needs to be handled you have no understanding of the word hesitation! Whatever’s possible or damn near impossible you just get err done.”

Reed confirms his Red Bull Straight Rhythm injury

“I slightly over jumped into the next transition nothing un normal but my suspension went metal to metal and I hurt my ankle.

“I’m seeing an ankle specialist this morning. Will update when I have more info and a plan of action.”

Heal up soon Chad. Everyone here at DBR Towers wishes you well.
