Last week we reported on the latest Ken Roczen surgery. It was gruesome viewing. At the time there was little detail available on what it was or how it had gone.

Team HRC has today released some detail on the operation along with an update on Kenny.

Honda says that it was Roczen’s 11th and (hopefully) final surgery to his left arm.

The operation was carried out at the Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado. Dr Randall Viola inserted cadaver cartilage into Roczen’s elbow and the operation lasted several hours.

The team say that the procedure is expected to ultimately give the arm full range of motion. Viola also cleaned out scar tissue from the affected area.

Roczen’s arm should be able to bear weight within six to eight weeks, it’s estimated.

With an incredible 11 surgeries now behind him, Roczen will soon travel back home to Germany. But don’t worry, it’s just temporary as K-Roc takes a well-earned holiday. However, it won’t be all down time as he continues his physical therapy.

“I’m really happy to have this last surgery out of the way,” Roczen said in a press release. “They got the cadaver piece earlier than expected, which is awesome because that was the last piece of the puzzle.

“Now I can really focus on recovery without having to worry about any other surgery. Other than that, things are going well.

“I’m excited to be going to Germany for the first time in a few years to vacation with family and take my fiancé for her first time. I’ll still be doing physical therapy while there and then will be hitting it hard when we’re back.”

Keep it going Kenny – stay strong, you have a lot of fans pulling for you.
