UPDATE: 27/02/2018 Josh Grant has posted a very brief update to his Instagram account today. The x-ray image he uploaded shows a considerable amount of plates/pins in his right leg with the comment: “Not the type of hardware I was planning on this season.” There has been no other injury update from either Grant or the team. We’ll post here when we get more information.

Josh Grant was sidelined with a leg injury sustained during qualifying last weekend at the Arlington round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship.

It’s now reported that he will have surgery today for a fracture of his tibia on his right leg.

With Grant out, Monster Energy Kawasaki has turned to Tyler Bowers as a fill-in ride. The announcement was brief: Tyler Bowers will be lining up for team Monster Energy Kawasaki this weekend at Round 8 in Tampa, FL, riding the #69 KX450F. He will be filling in for the injured Josh Grant as he recovers.

Speaking about his injury on social media, Grant said: “Well sh*t! “Happy it’s not worse and bummed it even happened! Out for a few weeks and we will be back kickin’ in no time!”

While of course is sad news for Grant, it will be interesting to see what Bowers can do on Factory 450 machinery.
