Supercross specialist Angelo Pellegrini is to take on the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, in 2019.

With the support of the SmarTop/MotoConcepts Racing Honda Pellegrini will race the first six rounds, with the series kicking off 2019 at Anaheim 1 on January 5.

At that time of the year Pellegrini is usually on the gate in the UK for the Arenacross Tour but after making history last year as the first ever Italian to qualify for a 450 Main Event Pellegrini feels he’s ready to take on the FIM World series.

The Italian rider will receive support from the Honda Motoconcepts Team but does not officially join their three-rider roster of Malcolm Stewart, Justin Brayton and Vince Friese.

Honda Motoconcepts will provide Pellegrini with motorcycles and special parts so that he can compete in the 450 class.

“Running in the American Supercross has always been my dream,” Pellegrini told X Offroad.

“I managed to make it first in 2012 in the 250 class and then last year in the 450 but I still have the same enthusiasm as if it were the first race, I would like to thank “Inukshuk” agency for giving me the necessary support to organise this project and the manager Roger Larsen [James and Malcolm Stewart manager / Seven MX manager] for helping me to find the agreement with Honda Motoconcepts.”
