News emerged this week that three-time MX2 Grand Prix winner Valentin Guillod will no longer be making his MXGP class debut in 2016 with the Standing Construct Yamaha Yamalube team.
The 23-year-old Swiss and the Belgian crew have parted ways in an alleged disagreement over training preparation and structure.
Guillod was set to steer a YZ450F for the team with whom he has contested the MX2 class for the past two seasons. He apparently turned down a lucrative offer from Suzuki on the eve of the Grand Prix of Belgium to stay with the Standing set-up but the relationship has now crumbled.
It is understood that Guillod will continue working with Yves Demaria, meaning the former 250cc GP winner has also departed.
Guillod has a fixed contract with Yamaha for 2016 which means the manufacturer now needs to find a place for the exciting victor of races in Spain, Britain and the Czech Republic and with options realistically at Rinaldi’s Yamaha Factory Racing Yamalube set-up or somehow in the crowded awning at Kemea Yamaha Yamalube.
Guillod is planning to contest the Supercross in Genova, Italy this weekend and also Supercross Paris-Lille next week; in what colours and with what machine is still not clear.
Standing Construct will once more be dedicated to solely the MX2 class with Julien Lieber and Alex Tonkov the principal racers on the YZ250F.
