Team Motul Suzuki’s Matt Moss was out to close in on Australian Supercross series leader Daniel Reardon at Jimboomba in Queensland today.

Reardon put a marker down for the night by finishing as the fastest qualifier but Moss would push hard in the heats.

The heats most notable moment was in the first one of the night when Moss made a block pass on Reardon only to then wash out leaving the CDR Yamaha pilot to take the win.

In the 20-lap Main, Moss started well, taking the holey but Reardon wasted no time in making his move for the lead but #122 couldn’t make the pass stick and Moss came back at Reardon.

The pair came together with Moss losing out and dropping back several places, leaving Reardon to runout with an easy win.

Moss made his way back through the pack, including passing Reardon’s team-mate Kade Mosig for second on the night.

Kade Mosig finished in third, NPS Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Adam Monea was fourth and completing the top five was Peter Stevens DPH Yamaha’s Lawson Bopping.

Speaking on the podium Reardon expressed his pleasure at extending his championship lead. “This one is a really critical round in the Championship, so I’m rapt to get the win for all the fans here in Queensland that have come out to support me, as well as keep the momentum and open up a few more points lead in the series.”

The series moves on to the first of the final two rounds next week with a switch to the much publicised AUS-X Open event in Sydney. “I’m really looking forward to Sydney. My plan is to keep doing whatever it takes to get this Championship won,” added Reardon.

SX2

Penrite Honda’s Jimmy Decotis has been the dominant rider in SX2 for 2015 but the American import didn’t look as comfortable on the hard pack track in Queensland.

In the Main Davey Motorsports KTM’s Lewis Woods got the holey ahead of KTM Newcastle’s Dylan Wills before Decotis passed Wills for second.

The Red Plate holder then has a little excursion off track before rejoining the race and making a not-so-clean pass on Wills – who went down hard – to give #49 second spot once again.

Woods had a comfortable lead on Decotis but as the laps clicked down the Davey Motorsports KTM pilot started to feel the pace and in the last few laps Decotis started to reel Woods in but #115 held on for a memorable victory.

SD3 Husqvarna’s Luke Arbon was third, Geran Stapleton (Wilson MX Penrite Honda) came in fourth and Wills, after recovering from his clash with Decotis, completed the top five.
