Max Anstie has announced that he is out of the 2019 Motocross of Nations leaving Team GB with just one officially nominated rider for the biggest moto event of the year in Assen on September 28/29.

The 26-year-old MXGP rider, who is out of contract with Standing Construct KTM at the end on this season, broke the news on his social media accounts. “Iā€™m out of the MXoN this year,” he wrote. “I have been having scans over the last two weeks [and] the doctors have said it will be too risky and that my lung could collapse if I push my body/lung to its limits too early. So Iā€™m out of the ‘Nations for this year.

“Itā€™s really disappointing because I have been looking forward to this race for a long time now!

“Good luck to Mark and all the boys on the GB squad for Assen! The docs say Iā€™ll be good to start pushing again by early October just a shame all the races are over by then.”

Team GB are now left with just Shaun Simpson on the team (Open class) with Ben Watson (MX2) also ruled out by injury. Sterry has said he’s on the squad but that has yet to be officially confirmed.
