Injury has forced Britain’s Ben Watson into a rethink for this Sunday’s Hawkstone International. The 22-year-old announced yesterday evening that he had elected not to line up at Hawkstone Park, but his post on social media left fans and media in the dark as to why he pulled from one of the biggest pre-season events in Europe.
It was especially surprising considering his excellent results at Riola Sardo just a couple of weeks ago. It’s fair to say he was one of the favourites for a podium spot at the famous Shropshire circuit on FebruaryĀ 9.

Old injury plagues MX2 pilot

After a little digging, a source close to Ben revealed to Dirt Bike Rider that he had recently irritated the injury he sustained in Teutschenthal, Germany (broken hand at the GP) and thought it best to rest it this weekend.

It’s considered just a small setback for the Brit but he’s not yet in a position to say if he’ll be fit to race at the final pre-season race, that’s the Lacapelle Marival in France on FebruaryĀ 16.

When will fans see Ben on British soil?

With the Hawkstone International now out for the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 rider, the only time British fans are likely to see him on these shores is at Matterley Basin for the MXGP of Great Britain on March 1.
