The official Yamaha UK MX2 team, Rob Hooper Racing, has announced today their first signing of 2020 is Taylor Hammal.

Hammal showed speed, determination and the willingness to learn in a season that, if he wasnā€™t hampered by injury, could have seen him finish on two national championship podiums.

Taylor excelled in the MX2 class netting his best ever Maxxis finish, his first-ever Pro overall, and his first-ever Pro race win. With another season onboard the 2020 Yamaha YZF the team is hopeful he can build on that and be a title contender.

Rob Hooper: ā€œWe are really happy to have Taylor back on the team. We work very closely with our riders, and we feel this really helped him progress as a rider much as the same approach did with Ryan Houghton the season before.

ā€œAlready we have been working hard and testing suspension with Mark at RSS and on engine development with Matt at MX Zone and we are confident that Taylor will have a bike on par with anyone out there. The lad is so keen too, and he is a delight to work with, so we are positive that in 2020 we can deliver some great results.ā€

ā€œYeah, itā€™s great to be back with the team for next year,ā€ said Hammal. ā€œIā€™m really excited to get it started. Itā€™s a good feeling to know everythingā€™s sorted for next year already. This time in recent years itā€™s been so stressful for my family mainly, but I’m glad thatā€™s done with, and we can already focus on next year.

ā€œI am really grateful for everything Rob and the team have done for me this year, especially as he gave me the chance to ride for him when I was just a standard mid-pack rider last year. Anyway, I canā€™t wait to get going next year now.ā€

Hammal will ride for the team in the British Motocross Championship, MX Nationals, Bridgestone British Masters, some MXGP European rounds and other domestic events such as the Hawkstone International.

The team are hopeful of announcing another rider shortly.
