Billy MacKenzie’s return to racing has been halted after a practise crash left him with multiple fractures.

The two-time British MX1 champion was due to race this weekend at the famous Hawkstone Park circuit in Shropshire for the sixth round of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship, but a practise crash has left MacKenzie with multiple fractured vertebrae and ribs.

Amazingly, somehow Billy drove himself to the hospital where he is now flat on his back waiting for surgery.

Unfortunately MacKenzie will also miss the popular VMXdN at Farleigh Castle on September 7-8.

VMXdN organisers are currently looking for a replacement rider and will make an announcement in the next few weeks.
