Billy bounces back!

Billy bounces back!

Battling Brit Billy MacKenzie is back to full health and ready to kick some Aussie ass for his Monster Energy Kawasaki team at round four of the Australian National Championship at Murray Bridge this weekend.

After taking an early lead in the championship at the series opener at Broadford, Billy was clearly not riding to his potential at the second and third rounds of the championship. Subsequent scans revealed a couple of fractured ribs and a cracked shoulder blade sustained in a race crash at round two were the source of a great deal of pain and discomfort for the speedy Scot and have subsequently affected his results.

“Ive been in a fair bit of pain since the crash at Appin but I’ve just been battling through it,” says Billy. “It wasn’t until I went for x-rays after Raymond Terrace that I found out that I had fractured ribs and a cracked shoulderblade. Good news is that four weeks off has done me the world of good. The pain is now gone and I’m back to full speed. I’ve started riding again only this week and have tested with the team at Toowoomba. I do need some more time on the bike to get my fitness back to 100 per cent but the speed is there so I’m really looking forward to this weekend.

“There are still a lot of races left. When I injured myself last year I was down by a lot of points in the championship but still clawed my way back and almost won it. If I just go out there and do my thing I know it will all be okay.”
