Former MXGP contender Nico Aubin will line up for the remainder of the 2018 Power Maxed Arenacross Tour with the RFX Suzuki team.

Heā€™ll be joining the rest of the battling pros on the AX start grid for his first-ever AX outing at round three of the series at The Genting Arena, Birmingham, this Saturday.

The super-fast Frenchman is no stranger to the UK and previously rode with Dave Thorpeā€™s Buildbase Honda team in the Maxxis series, won the Red Bull Nationals in 2012 and has represented his country in the MXoN.

He currently runs his own Amexio Suzuki team and, together with his brother Arnaud, competes in French motocross and supercross championships. He finished second behind leading AX pro Cedric Soubeyras (Team FRO Systems) and ahead of Thomas Ramette (SR75 Suzuki) in the French summer SX series.

The 29-year-old, who lives just across the Channel in Normandy, is fired up to be returning to the UK and reckons he could upset some people and has a real chance to get on the AX podium.

ā€œI had planned to get a bit of free time in the off-season,ā€ said Aubin, ā€œbut Iā€™m feeling good physically and I just really love racing.

After finishing second last week I decided I needed to continue riding and I was looking at my options when I took the call from RFX. Sometimes things are just meant to be and here I am joining the team. Everybody is happy. ā€œIā€™m really excited to be joining Arenacross.ā€œThis is my first time racing the series but I have heard so much about it.

ā€œI know Bobby (Evgeny Bobryshev, his new RFX Suzuki team-mate) from our MXGP days and Iā€™ve raced against all the fast French riders who are already in AX so I know some of the tactics! Ā ā€œIā€™ll have to quickly learn the tracks but I believe I can get on the podium.ā€

RFX Suzuki boss Paul Irwin is looking forward to fielding a full-strength team.

ā€œWe were all gutted when Angelo (Pellegrini) got injured at Manchester as we had a strong team that had already gelled well. Ā ā€œHowever, Iā€™m delighted that we now have a world-class line-up with two former MXGP top runners flying the RFX Suzuki flag.

ā€œNico and Bobby will make a formidable pairing and I reckon we can get back on the podium where we belong ā€“ roll on Birmingham!ā€ To see the star-studded line-up of international front-runners going head-to-head get along to Birmingham this weekend.
