Adam Chatfield and Angelo Pellegrini both took wins for Honda in a dramatic Belfast Arenacross double-header…

Showing their class throughout the heats, CBR/ASA Racing’s Chatfield and Oakleaf Motorsport rider Pellegrini gained ground on early championship leader, SR75 Molson’s Thomas Ramette, edging the Frenchman into second and third place in each of the Pro Class final rounds.

The only thing that took the shine off an otherwise perfect weekend for the Honda riders was the absence of Chatfield on Saturday night – the English rider crashed out during practice, suffering injuries that may keep him out of the rest of the Arenacross series.

Reflecting on the performance, Dave Thorpe, headline sponsor of ASA Racing and Chatfield’s former team boss at Buildbase Honda, saw huge positives, despite the early departure on Saturday:

“Adam showed that championship-winning form again this weekend. He kept his head and made it look easy against Richier and Ramette in Friday’s final. We wish him well for a quick recovery.”

For Oakleaf, the win for Pellegrini made up for the series opener in Manchester that saw him crash while pressing Ramette in the main event. Ben Gould of Derbyshire off-road centre, partner of Oakleaf Motorsport, reflects on a successful weekend for the team:

“Angelo came back strong this round, with a top-five finish on Friday and the win on Saturday putting him back in contention. With Joe Clayton pushing hard in the Rookie class on Friday, it’s been a big weekend for the team.”

The Rookie final saw Chichester Honda’s Ollie Osmaston fend off a strong challenge from Clayton to take the win.

The Arenacross series reaches its midway point on Saturday January 24, taking place at the Genting Arena in Birmingham.
