After narrowly missing out on the Arenacross Pro title in 2013, Maxxis Kawasaki by LPE team boss Steve James is assembling a two-man squad of indoor big-hitters – starting with the signing of French star Fabien Izoird.

The 25-year-old has a sparkling indoor pedigree and is a former French and European Supercross champion. He also has a solid record in the AMA SX series and has shown his quality outdoors as well racing GPs.

“He’s a very good rider,” says Steve. “I was very impressed with how he rode at Bercy this year and he’s definitely one of the top French riders which makes him pretty special.

“Ryan Voase who I’ve supported for years raced with him a few years ago and really rates him. He’s a very technical rider which is what you need to succeed in Arenacross. I’m very serious about winning the title this time around and having Fabien on one of my bikes gives me a great chance.”

After losing the services of AX #3 Jack Brunell for 2014 Steve is currently talking to a number of big-name riders – from both sides of the Atlantic – with a view to finding someone to partner up with Fabien.

“I’m hoping to have my second rider signed up in the next few days,” adds Steve. “I don’t want to name any names until it’s 100 per cent but the riders I’m talking to are class acts.”

The seven-round 2014 UK Arenacross series kicks off with a double-header at the Odyssey Arena, Belfast, on January 17/18 before travelling to the LG Arena, Birmingham (January 25), the Echo Arena, Liverpool (February 2), the Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle (February 9) and the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield (February 15). The series signs off at London’s Wembley Arena on March 1.
