The #2 Pro for the 2013 season was South African (UK-based) Neville Bradshaw but the popular Pro hasn’t hit the mark so far in 2014’s Garmin Arenacross Tour.
The last Arenacross round he won was the final round in 2013 at the Echo Arena. This Sunday the 30-year-old who hails from the largest city in South Africa – Joburg – will return to the Liverpool venue full of confidence that he can turn things around. Putting his disappointing 8-10-8 card from the opening three rounds behind him.
“This year just to make the Main Event is an achievement and I know I’ve been riding better than my results suggest as I’ve been getting firsts and seconds in my heat races,” says Nev who currently sits seventh in the championship standings. “I know I can get the job done and I’m working on getting faster every week – I definitely want some podiums before the end of the series.”
Nev makes a good point about the strength of the competition for the 2014 Garmin Arenacross Tour: “Compared to last year the field is absolutely stacked and it’s made even harder by the fact all those French guys already have a full season of Supercross behind them and after each round can go back to France and practice on SX tracks while in England because of the weather it’s tough to even find a track to ride on during the week.”
Nev has a big-bore bike ready to go and you would think being on a 250-mounted against a field almost completely made up of 450s he would be switching up. But despite that possible disadvantage he’s not planning on a change.
“I’ve been thinking about racing a 450 quite a bit but the truth is I don’t enjoy riding them. I’ve been riding on a 450 this week but I enjoy the 250. I ride to have fun and I’ve proved in my heat races this year that I can win on a 250 – I just need to transfer that to the Main Event.”
