Italian Supercross star Angelo Pellegrini will race the 2014 Arenacross tour after signing a deal with Buildbase Honda team boss Dave Thorpe.

The 26-year-old, who at the weekend recorded two second place finishes behind Zach Osborne at the Milan SX, has raced GPs and made AMA SX Main Events and is a two-time Italian indoor national champion.

“I am looking forward to coming to the UK and racing your best riders,” says Angelo. “I am feeling in good form and confident that I can do well. There will be some very fast riders but I am also very fast.”

It’s a signing that brings an added depth to DT’s already powerful team of riders that includes reigning champion Adam Chatfield and crowd favourite Brad Anderson.

“Angelo is a very accomplished indoor rider,” says Dave. “He’s fast and consistent which over a seven-round series are both vital qualities. There are lots of riders who can threaten for a race but a rider who can run up at the front week-in, week-out is much rarer.

“I’m delighted to add a rider of Angelo’s calibre to my team. Arenacross is a major series and after winning it last year with Adam I want to retain the Pro title and I see Angelo as an important part of the puzzle.”

The seven-round 2014 Arenacross series kicks off with a double-header at the Odyssey Arena, Belfast, on January 17/18 before travelling to the LG Arena, Birmingham (January 25), the Echo Arena, Liverpool (February 2), the Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle (February 9) and the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield (February 15). The series signs off at London’s Wembley Arena on March 1.
